General Notes:
1.) W. W. Padgett's Mother Dead
Had Been a Resident of the County for Many Years - Cause of Death was Consumption
Mrs. Adeline Padgett, the aged mother of Attorney W. W. Padgett and one of the pioneer residents of this county, died this morning at thirty minutes past 6 o'clock at the family home 1223 South Judson after a lingering illness. The cause of death was bronchial consumption with which she had been afflicted for some time. The deceased was 74 years of age. Many of the friends new that Mrs. Padget had been sick, but none knew that her condition was serious and they were surprised this morning when it was learned that she was dead. The deceased had lived in this county for more than thirty years. Before removing to the city some ten years ago she resided with her husband southwest of Uniontown. Her late husband died some seven years ago. She is survived by three sons: W. W. Padgett, who has been making his home with her for some time; J. C. Padgett, a farmer near Hiatville, and Harry Padgett of Camden, Ark; also one daughter, Mrs. Leach of Kansas City. Mrs. Padgett was born in Montgomery Count, Ohio on Nov. 16, 1831. She came to Bourbon County in 1869 and lived in Fort Scott since 1887. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home conducted by Rev. Evans of the First Methodist Church and interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery.
